MITL Researchers Awarded Best Conference Paper at Canadian Transportation Research Forum

Roxana Rasouli, Saiedeh Razavi and Moataz Mohamed won the Ron Rice Award for best conference paper at the 2021 Canadian Transportation Research Forum. The paper titled “Costs and Benefits of Shared Mobility in a Suburban Context: The Impact of Powertrain Technology” was based on Rasouli’s MSc research. It aims to support the decision-making process of implementing shared mobility in suburban contexts. The study focuses on the potential of shared mobility application in a suburban area while comparing four powertrain technologies of Internal Combustion Engine, Battery Electric, and two Autonomous Electric Vehicles scenarios in various passenger capacities ranging from three to fifteen.

This study helps the analysis of costs and benefits, and feasibility of electric and shared mobility to address the transportation needs of current and future populations in suburban areas,” said Saiedeh Razavi, Associate Professor, Civil Engineering and Director of the McMaster Institute for Transportation & Logistics
